Rated 5 out of 5

Just finished installing a 6.2L L99 engine paired with the 6L80E transmission in my 2014 Camaro ZL1, and I’ve got to say—this combo is seriously underrated.
The L99 delivers solid, reliable V8 performance with plenty of torque right where you need it. Rated around 400 hp and 410 lb-ft from the factory, it’s not the most aggressive 6.2 out there, but it makes up for it with smooth power delivery and great drivability . The 6L80E transmission pairs perfectly with it—shifts are quick, responsive, and make the car feel effortless whether you’re cruising or getting on it.
One thing I really appreciate is the balance. The engine feels strong without being overkill, and the automatic setup makes it super comfortable for daily driving while still giving you that classic Camaro V8 feel. Plus, the Active Fuel Management is a nice touch for better efficiency when you’re not pushing it .
Overall, this swap completely transformed the car. It’s smooth, powerful, and reliable—exactly what you want in a street-driven build. If you’re considering an L99/6L80E setup, don’t sleep on it. It’s a solid combo that delivers where it counts.
